Objective: This article outlines the process for assigning details and settings to your campaign. In this step, you will set subject line, from-address, footer details and other information.

Establish your campaign details

Subject: Write the subject line for your email campaign here. You can insert tokens and/or emojis to further personalize the subject line.

Preheader (optional): This can be thought of as the content teaser of an email campaign. It is the block of text that shows up in the email client (if supported) next to your subject line. This field does accept tokens as well.

From Name: Set the From Name for your email campaign. 

From Email: Set the From Email for your email campaign.

Reply to Email: You are able to specify a reply to address that is different than the sending address. You also have the option to track replies. If you select this, mail2 will track who replied, but will forward the response to the reply-to address.

Autoreply Message: You have the option of creating a unique autoreply message for each campaign that you send. To create an auto-response message, use the edit button.

Reply Settings: Choose to track or not track email replies. Tracking email replies forces messages to route through mail2's servers to track, which will not include your organization's domain in the reply address and may result in delayed replies.

Check the box 'This email campaign will be part of a workflow' if you'd like to use this email as part of a workflow.

More Options


  • Address: You have the option of including your mailing address at the end of your email campaign. There is no need to select this if you have your mailing address within the footer of the email.
  • Footer: You can preview your footer message. You have the option of selecting either a system footer or a blank footer. If your footer is already included in the bottom of your email, you will want to select the blank footer option. 

Subscription Form: Select the subscription management form to associate with this campaign. The list(s) you are using must be on this associated preference form to remain CAN-SPAM compliant. 

View email online: Selecting this will append a header that includes the URL link to the top or bottom of the email. There is no need to select this if you include the view in browser link within your email campaign.

Encoding: All emails sent through mail2 should use UTF-8 Encoding. There is no need to change this setting.


Social Sharing

The social sharing toolbar adds a top bar on your email with buttons that prompt your patrons to share your email on different social media platforms, as well as sign up for your email list if they are not subscribers. This is not added to the email that is sent via mail2. This is only included when accessed via the link in the popup and meant for sharing on different social media platforms.

1. Select the form you'd like to use to for recipients to be directed to. 
2. Edit the text which will display on the link to the selected form.
3. Copy this link into your social media accounts to share your email. (see screenshot below) 
Note: If you are using custom fields/tokens, fields will populate the default value. 
If you are using dynamic content, ALL content will display in your social campaign. 

Autopost to Facebook or Twitter- If you have integrated either your Facebook or Twitter, you have the option to create an autopost at time of send. If you have not integrated, you may add your Facebook or Twitter accounts by clicking 'add account'.  Integrating Your Social Accounts

Your social campaign will contain the 'social toolbar' and will populate default values for tokens. If you are using dynamic content, ALL content will display in the social campaign.  


Google Analytics

If you have a Google Analytics account, you are able to apply parameters to each campaign in this step. You are able to customize the tracking code that is applied at time of send for easier reporting. Drafts that are associated with a Tessitura-Integrated scheduled job should insert Google Analytic information not in Step 4, but in Step 5 in the Custom Tracking section. 


Custom Tracking

If you have Tessitura integration with mail2, you are able to apply custom parameters to each campaign in this step. You are able to customize the tracking code that is applied at time of send for easier reporting. If you are using in coordination with surveys, ensure you have URL variables set up within your survey as well. You can also set up key value pairs to populate dynamically using custom fields. For example: 
Key = "customer_no" and value ="Contact.customer_no". 

For drafts associated with Tessitura-Integrated scheduled jobs, insert the Google Analytic parameter keys as they are listed (keys are case-sensitive). For example "Utm_source", "Utm_Campaign", "Utm_Content", "Utm_Medium".
